Membership Details

Formed soon after the first Great North Run, and affiliated to the then AAA in December 1983, we are based at the sports centre in Blyth, south-east Northumberland near to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. (Location map)

Most of our members are primarily involved with Road Running covering all distances up to full Marathons, although some members do take part in cross-country, fell and track races. We meet at the Sports Centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:45pm, and on Sunday mornings at 9:00am for the obligatory longer run. Our members cover a wide range of abilities; some are at “the sharp end” of races while others run just for fun or simply to keep fit.

Structured training is offered for those who want it, and company is offered to all – nobody runs on their own. Although you may feel a bit daunted about joining a running club for the first time, don’t be, we are a very social club and all our members took that first tentative step at some time. If interested, why not give it a try? Either turn up at the Monday or Wednesday session, details of which can be found in our training section, or contact us first at enquiries@blythrunningclub.org.uk so that we can select the appropriate group for you to train with.

Club subscriptions are due on the 1st of January each year.

*2  For members who do not wish to compete for the club.

*3  All members must be from the same family, and must pay at the same time.
