Winter Series 2024/25 Race 2
Wednesday 18th December.
The second race of the 2024/25 Winter Series competition, again held in its’ new trial location of Cramlington, saw a reduction in the number of runners after the record entry of race 1, with 82 entrants this time round.
First back (after finishing second in race 1) and improving her time by nearly 3 minutes was Maisie Payne with a clock time of 35:13. Second place and two minutes adrift was Stephanie Landers (37:15), with Anita Dabbs just a few seconds further back in third (37:28). The timekeepers and recorders were then kept rather busy as 60 runners finished within the next minute.
Winners in the team competition were “R&R” on a team score of 84pts (finishing positions being 2nd, 17th, 22nd and 43rd), followed by “Ali and the Alchies” and “Better Late Than Never” with 97 and 107 pts respectively. Unsurprisingly the overall individual competition is being led by Maisie with Julie Wightman in second (11pts behind) and Ruth French in third (7 pts behind Julie). The overall team competition is currently very close, being led by “DK’s Midnight Runners” on 53pts, followed by “Ali and the Alchies” and “R&R” in second and third on 51pts and 48pts respectively.
Fastest finisher was once again Richard Bateson in a time of 13:49, with Gemma Floyd again fastest female with 16:17.
