On a balmy evening down at South Beach we had 45 runners at the start line between Dave Stephens Centre and the bandstand.
After race briefing by yours truly, runners set off and it soon became apparent that the heat was going to be a factor. Once the runners hit the Dune path and started heading out to Seaton Sluice the temperature went up a few degrees, with no wind as well to cool down, it was going to be a hard race.
After first lap Michael Stott had already a 2 minute lead over the 2nd runner (Alex Robertson). After Michael passed to start his 2nd lap , for the next 25 minutes or so there was a steady stream of runners.
7 Runners decided to stop after 1 lap as the heat took its toll, leaving 38 to start the 2nd and final lap.
First past the post in an impressive time of 51.12 was Michael Stott, 2nd was Alex Robertson 55.08 and 3rd was Will Brindley in 55.29
First lady was Kandis Watson in 1.05.01, 2nd lady was Nikki Courtney in 1.12.01 and Sue Browning was 3rd lady in 1.14.03.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE AND WELL DONE TO ALL THE RUNNERS.
Michael.
