Winter Series 2024/25 Race 4
Wednesday 12th February 2025.
The STIG wishes to congratulate all the 79 competitors who took part and to thank all the marshals and volunteers who ensured the evening went smoothly and that everyone remained safe around the course.
The victory on the evening went to Wor Jean Gailli who put everything into her run and I’m sure you will all join me in sending huge congrats on her victory.
Jean was followed across the line by Lynn Butler in second place and Mark Walbank in third. Some great runs for people on the night and another one of note is Michael Ashby, well done lad.
The individual competition remains very close with Christine Marsh retaining first place at the moment with Ruth French, Tommy Richardson, Maisie Payne and Steve Dobby close behind. With 4 races to count, for these 5 it is all about targeting an improved score in the final race for their current ‘worse’ placing, however that is not the full story…. there are two people who currently only have three counting races lurking in the shadows, waiting for race five to come round and make that final charge up the rails to snatch victory. All to play for these seven. Good luck guys and gals.
For the team competition, race four has mixed things up nicely with The Stamp Collectors taking the victory, raising them to 4th place and the top three are only separated by 7.5 points, with Ali and the Alkies retaining top spot, DK’s Midnight Runners in 2nd (3.5 pts behind) and The Doylems in 3rd (7.5pts behind). All to play for in the final race for these teams and I’m sure that one of our other teams will be actively trying to bag good runs and affect the overall standings after race 5.
The STIG wishes all teams the best of luck in race 5 and looks forward to processing those final race placings to determine the series victors, ‘keep it clean’ are the STIG’s instructions for race 5.
Some STIG related facts:-
61 of the 79 competitors were within +/- 1 min of target time (77%)
39 of the 79 competitors were within +/- 30 sec of target time (49%)
Looking at the results across the series, the STIG identifies some great improvements in times for individuals, with some making improvements in every one of the four races to date, this is magic to see and even if you are not in the mix for honours, great pride can be taken in many of your individual performances.
So there we have it, race 4 done and dusted, well done to all that ran and supported/volunteered.
We move on to the series decider, race 5 on Wednesday 12th March. Stay fit everyone, keep well and we will see you same time and same place for what promises to be an interesting finale.
