Winter Series 2024/25 Race 3
Wednesday 15th January 2025.
A cool, clear, calm evening provided perfect running conditions for the 80 runners who turned out for race 3 of the 2024/25 Winter Series competition, being held once again in its’ new trial location of Cramlington.
First back was Rodney Giles with a clock time of 36:50. Second place just twelve seconds adrift was Richard Bickerton (37:02), with Steven French and Lynn Munro third and fourth just three seconds further back, both recording the same time (37:05). The busiest finishing time saw 40 runners finishing within 30 seconds of each other.
Winners in the team competition were “Ali and the Alchies”, improving on their previous fourth and second placed finishers in the previous two races on a team score of 100pts, followed by “DK’s Midnight Runners” and “The Doylems” both on 118 pts. Leading the overall individual competition is Christine Marsh on 50pts from the three races, with Vanessa Dunning in second (4pts behind) and George Bryce in third (3 pts behind Vanessa). The overall team competition is still very close with the first two teams after race 2 swopping places, so “Ali and the Alchies” are now in pole position on 83pts, followed by “DK’s Midnight Runners” (79.5pts) and “The Doylems” in third (70.5pts).
Fastest finisher was 14 year old George Bryce in a new course record time of 13:33, with Gemma Floyd again fastest female with 16:13.
