Pineapple Mile Results 2025
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 6th Pineapple Mile today, and a special thank you to Kevin Freeman for organizing these events with such style and professionalism and Chief time keeper Mick Groves.
Chairman David McGarry also kept us all entertained with his amplified commentary, providing the all important race stats. While no time records were achieved today, this was partly due to the heat and primarily because the Ladies’ record remains at 5:46.5, set by Lauren Creaby in 2021, and the Men’s record is 4:21.1, established in the same year by Josh Fiddaman, both proving incredibly difficult to beat. However, one record was indeed broken today: the Ladies’ attendance, which reached 14 competitors. This record has only been surpassed once before, by the men in 2019, who had 16 runners. An interesting statistic is that in the inaugural year, the men had more entries than the Ladies. In Year 2, the Ladies surpassed the men, and in Year 3, the men led the Ladies. This pattern has continued throughout the six years. Helen Amanda Morris and Colin Brown are the only two individuals who have participated in all six years of the event.
Congratulations to our Ladies’ winners this year. The race was quite engaging, with Lee Elder taking the lead from the outset and setting the pace for the others, closely followed by Samantha Keith Fletcher and Michelle Conner for the first two laps. On the third lap, Leanne Herron surged into third place after accelerating from seventh in the first lap. Leanne maintained her momentum in the final lap to secure second place. 1st Lee Elder 2nd Leanne Herron 3rd Samantha Keith Fletcher The Men’s race was run at a quicker pace, yet the positions remained unchanged throughout the four laps. However, it was far from dull, as we witnessed race favorite Gary Weir drop to third place while young Jamie Floyd (whom I predicted would win) led the race, closely followed by Stuart Smith. 1st Jamie Floyd 2nd Stuart Smith 3rd Gary Weir Last but not least (literally) congratulations to our 2 that came last and still won, Michael Ashby and Clare Freeman
