What a
difference a year makes! The first
race in last year's WS was held in calm, cool conditions, this year it could
only be described as a monsoon, all credit then to the officials, helpers and
(amazingly) the 59 runners who turned out in such atrocious conditions to
make the first race of this year's competition such a success. First
back, and running much stronger than anticipated, was new member Scott Legge, winning by over a minute from another first-timer Phillipa Edwards, who herself was 45 seconds in front of
third placed David Potts. First
team was "Disciples of Keith" with 49 points, well in front of
"Alison's Aces" on 98.
Fastest finisher and making light work of the bad weather was Jake in
a time of 14:05, Leanne Herron was fastest lady with 15:47. generally all times were much slower than
expected due to the horrendous weather. It was
encouraging to see some of the newer club members and a host of juniors
taking part and enjoying the race.
