Another
Winter Series and surprisingly another good night for running, so slightly
disappointing that only 47 runners turned out. The runaway winner was Louise Douglas,
improving her season's best by over a minute and recording her second victory
of this series. In a very tight finish
for second place, Ron Ingram just won from Paul Turnbull, both being credited
with the same time. With just one race
to go the competition for the individual overall title is extremely close,
with only 7 points separating the top five positions. In prime position is Joseph Dungworth (54pts), followed by James Young (55pts), Mark
Cooper (58pts), Ian Baxter (59pts) and Adam Robinson (61pts), any of these or
indeed the next 10 could still win overall. The
team competition saw an easy win for "R n R" with 31 points,
followed by "Hot Tottie" (51pts) and "Lydia's
Lads" (72pts). Going in to the
final race "Hot Tottie" now have 102pts,
a lead of 9pts over second placed "Lydia's Lads", with "Ay Up
Me Duck" a further 11pts back in third. Fastest
finisher on the night was Jake in a time of 13:55, just 1 second slower and
breaking 14 minutes for the first time was Jon French. Two records were set on the night, Peter
Brown improved the male vets record he set in the previous race by another 4
seconds to 14:10 and Charlie Hedley, at just 15 years old, set a new female
record of 15:07, bettering Kirsty Mason's 15:15
from 5 years ago. Many
