A lower
than normal 45 runners turned out for the fifth race of the Winter Series, the
strong wind being an obvious disadvantage as times were noticeably down on
previous races, with only 4 managing to run season's best times. First
back was Alison Lowes with a time of 21:36, followed 6 seconds later by Ian
Baxter, with Hayley Masterman a further 5 seconds
adrift in third, interestingly the first 3 were three of the four who ran
season's bests. Phillippa Baxter still leads the race overall race with 63pts, just 3pts
in front of Cath Young in second, who is a another
2pts ahead of Heather Barrass. Somehow
the "Broons" managed to win for the
fourth time in the five races and the other teams will need an event of
biblical proportions to stop them winning the team competition. "RnR"
finished in second place and "Babes in the Woods" in third. Fastest
finisher on the night was Jake Jansen with 14:06 and Heather Christopher was
again fastest lady in a time of 16:55.
