SUMMER CUP 2012  RESULTS  RACE 2

49 runners took part in the second race of this season's Summer Cup at Blyth seafront on a warm, humid evening. First back was Mark Cooper, who overtook long time leader Aynsley in the last 50 metres to post a six second victory, with a fast finishing Michael Nolan a further 7 seconds adrift in third place. As in the first race it was again good to see that 40 runners finished within a 70 second window, showing that the handicapping is generally working. After the two races Mark Ponton is the early overall leader with 13 points, followed by Helen Morris on 18 and Martin Gaughan on 21. The "Foxtrotters" were the victors in the team race, with the winners of the first race, "R n R" in second, this gives "R n R" the lead in the team competition with 45 points, 10 points ahead of the "Foxtrotters" in second. Fastest male Robby Barkley in 13:58 and fastest female Julie Clark with 16:14. Of the 37 runners who have completed both races, 25 ran faster times in race 2.
