North East Grand Prix Meeting 3
[18-Jun-2014]
The NEGP returned to Gateshead for the first time in nearly two
years and a glorious sunny evening and excellent conditions awaited the 6 Blyth
athletes.
Josh Fiddaman continued his 100% track
record for the season with a comfortable win in the U13 boys 1500m (4:55.4),
with Josh once again getting the better of Low Fell’s James Hopkinson.
Connor Marshall ran in the U15 boys 1500m (5:10.8). In a very
strong field Connor ran well and was just a couple of seconds off beating his
PB .
Adam Swalwell was also just outside
his PB in the U15 boys 100m (14.2s), but will surely be going sub 14s soon.
In the U17W 100m Alice Dungworth
finished 4th in a very competitive race (13.7s), although she was some way off
her recent times. Plenty of more important competitions to focus on for Alice
though!
Calum Storey had an excellent
meeting, setting two new PB’s in his two events. 1.50m in the high jump was greeted
with audible delight from Calum, who finally cleared
in competition the height that he has been clearing in training with ease. He
followed it up with 26.9s in the 200m, going under 27s for the first time.
I took on four events in the effort to secure a big haul of
points for the overall grand prix. High jump was below par (1.45m), Long Jump
was an outdoor PB (5.39m), Shot putt was a PB (7.64m), and finally the 200m
(24.2s) was another PB.
