North Eastern X-C Champs

Saturday 13th December was the last XC event of 2014 and Newcastle Town Moor was the venue for the North Eastern Championships. This was a ‘mass start’ race for both senior men and women so handicaps were applied to the finishing times based upon a runners NEHL pack designation going into the race.

In the men’s race 5 from BRC competed and finished the 12K course in the following order: Jon French, Graeme Stewart, Steve Dobby, Dave Bradley and Martin Scott. Medium Pack runners Jon and Graeme ran well so the 3 minute handicap applied to their times wasn’t enough to give the others any advantage.

In the ladies race there were also 5 BRC finishers. The ladies finished the 8K course in the following order: Heather Christopher, Julie Lemin, Helen Morris, Hayley Raithby and Anne Craddock. Heather was the only Medium Pack runner and as in the men’s competition the 2 minute penalty wasn’t enough alter the finishing points.
