British Universities X-C Champs
[3rd-Feb-2014]
Hello my fellow Blyth runners.
I've never done anything like this
before, it might not be a golden speech like Mr Freeman's, but I'll give it
ago.
I left Friday evening for the
British University cross country championships in Stirling, my generous Uni put me in a premier Inn for the night, No tea, No
breakfast, No WIFI, included, only a TV which is only good after 11 when
babe-station comes on.
So I explored the town of Stirling,
being by myself there wasn't much to do, apart from getting a take away from Nandos, so I went back to my hotel to relax for the race
and wait for 11 to arrive.
The day of the race was a cold,
windy, wet day, the race was held at the University of Stirling, it was an
awesome Uni, the land of dream if you will.
One hour before the race, I see
teams such as Oxford, Cambridge, on foam rollers, getting massages, breathing
exercises, getting the best treatment before a race you could get. My race plan
was having a cup tea and looking across at the senior girls arses, was a good
warm up, it lasted 47 minutes until I was making it to obvious.
The race had finally arrived, I was
wearing blue and white stripes provided from Uni, but
the blood of green and white still flowed strongly through my veins, the race
was just under 7 mile, was a very tough course, a lot of hills, plenty mud,
some of the runners where just world class. I enjoyed the race, great
atmosphere, great experience.
I finished 253 overall, and 9th in
the north east for all Universities.
And Craig Birch having a cracking
run finishing strongly in 295th position, best technique a runner could ask
for.
From your friendly, sexy, good
looking, Blyth Member Jake
