VAANEE Track&Field Update 2

[Mon 16th July]

BLYTH LADIES FINISH 2nd TEAM AT THE VAANEE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE 2012.

Wow, we did so well - the girls just kept coming and enjoying every minute. I am delighted with all who competed and secured our 2nd placing.

Some highlights from the 4th and 5th meets were:

An exciting 300m race which was so close between Heather Barrass and Steph White (Tynedale) - recording the same time but Heather just getting the edge to come 1st in 49.9.

Heather Barrass and Hayley Masterman coming 1st and 2nd in their age group for the long jump. Sharon coming 1st in the hammer.

Other track events where Hayley and Helen competed were the 100m and 800m.

In the final league meeting on Monday 16th July:-

Diane Wallace (newcomer to track and field) took part in the 100m and 300m.

Sharon made a remarkable track debut in the 3000m recording 16:45.6. and also won the discus event.

Helen competed in the 300m and 3000m.

Thanks also to Heather Christopher who competed in the earlier meets and gained valuable points.

We finished on 132 points in 2nd place behind south shields.

We are going for the cup next year.
