Winter Series 2010/11 Report

[Thu 6^th Apr] Warm but windy conditions greeted the 51 runners who turned out for the 7th and final race in the 2010/11 Winter Series on Wed 6th April, the wind obviously having a detrimental effect as only 6 series best times were recorded, perhaps not surprisingly by the 6 finishers on the night.

First back was Steph Ramsey, over a minute quicker than her previous best, with Andrea Scott 30 seconds back in 2nd, followed by Colin Seccombe in 3rd. Fastest on the night was Gary Jones with a time of 13:24 and Heather Christopher was again first lady in 16:46.

The overall individual prize went to junior Charlie Hedley, whose consistent finishes of 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 16th and 22nd gave her a total of 45 points just 3 points in front of Calum Storey, with Dave Roberts and Lois Kankowski finishing joint 3rd with 57.

The team competition was very close on the night, "R n R" being first with 59 points, just 2 points in front of "Colin's Crew", who themselves where another 2 points in front of "The Not So Young Ones" in 3rd. This result gives "R n R" overall victory in the team competition with 536 points, followed closely by "Colin's Crew" on 555 points in 2nd and "Charlie And The Giraffe" in 3rd with 607.

Many thanks to the 83 members who have taken part in the series, (with 14 doing all 7 races), and especially Keith, the 2 Dave's, Sandra, Gloria, Iain, Dickie, Stephen, Mal and 'The Stig', without who's help the event couldn't take place.
