[Wed 2nd Feb]
Although the weather was warmer and drier than for
the previous races in the series, this time the runners had to contend with a
strong gusty wind. The wind seemed to affect
some more than others, with approximately half the field of 53 running slower
than their previous race times and the other half faster, some by well over a
minute.
Following the vote at the end of the previous race,
the new course was used again. First
back was Jordan Middlemist, this was Jordan's first
race in the series and he also posted the fastest time on the night with
14:23. In 2nd and 3rd places were Lois Kankowski and Charlie Hedley, two fast improving juniors,
who both ran their fastest times so far.
There is a change at the top of the individual
competition with Dave Roberts taking over first place with 132 points, just 1
point in front of Ken Turnbull, with Martin Gaughan a
further 9 points back in third.
First team on the night was "Charlie And The
Giraffe", with a low 51 points (helped enormously by Lois and Charlie's
2nd and 3rd places). "Colin's
Crew", this time with the help of Colin, didn't fare as well as usual but
still retain a 70 point lead over "R n R" at the top of the team
competition.
Heather Christopher was again fastest lady on the
night in 17:23. Once again many thanks
to Keith, Dave, The Handicapper (Stig) and all the
helpers on the night.
