Mid-Week Round Up 12th May
[14th-May-2011] A small
contingent of 6 Blyth members travelled to Alnwick on Tuesday, 10th May, to
take part in the Alnwick Harriers organised Les Allcorn 10k and 3k Junior Fun
Run. The events, held in the grounds of Hulne
Park, attract an overall entry of approximately 200 runners, roughly evenly
split between the two races. The 10k
course is half road/half track (some quite stony) and completely traffic free,
why more runners don't attend remains a mystery.
First
back for Blyth in an excellent 3rd place was Ash Henderson in a time 37:12, Ash
was followed by Steve Walker (35th;44:52), Keith Willshire (82nd;55:10), Louise
Rawlinson (83rd;55:26) and Alison Lowes (96th;62:02). In the 3k Junior race Charlotte Ramsay was
36th and 5th U15 girl in a time of 15:01.
The
following night, 14 members were among the 211 who competed in North Shields
Poly's Clive Cookson 10k. Based at
Monkseaton High School. the fast, flat, 2 lap course takes runners on tracks to
Murton Village and then along Rake Lane past North Tyneside General Hospital
back to the school. Congratulations to
Susanne Hunter who was 2nd F45 and Julie Clark (3rd F35), also Julie, Susanne,
Tegan and Dawn combined to finish as 2nd female team, and Hayley, Julie,
Phillippa and Davina as 3rd female team, well done girls!
