[Wed 3rd Feb] On a cold night, the
56 runners who completed the fifth race in this seasons Winter Series were
lucky that the snow showers stopped just before the start. However, the sprinkling of snow underfoot
created a few slippery patches on the course, particularly on the corners. Even so, 16 people ran their fastest times of
the series so far. First back was Emma
Freeman with a 49sec improvement on her previous best time, followed home by
Ken Turnbull, (who himself knocked more than 30sec off his previous best), and Steph Ramsey who is improving dramatically with each
race. Steph’s
fourth top ten finish in five races puts her in a strong position in the race
for the overall title, although there are one or two others who still have high
scores to discard. The team race was
again won by the Hare and the Tortoises, their third win in the five races and
they seem to be team of Hares rather than Tortoises. They are now in a very strong first place in
the team event. Fastest on the night
were again Robbie and Leanne. Once again
many thanks to Keith, both Dave’s, Andi
Capper and all the helpers on the night.
