Snake Lane 10M Pocklington

[Mon 1st Mar 2010]  A fleet of cars and a coach left Blyth early on Sunday morning as the runners and their supporters took the long drive to Pocklington, approximately 10 miles East of York, for the Snake Lane 10, the first Grand Prix race of the 2010 season.  A total of 32 Blyth members ran in the event, almost 5% of the 666 total, including a number of new members; Heather Christopher, Claire Riches, Ian Baxter and Carol Watt who were all racing for the first time, and will hopefully be back for more.

The bad weather forecasted for the day never materialised and although there was a strong cool headwind for the first few miles of the windy course along the rural lanes around Pocklington, it thankfully remained dry.

First back for Blyth was Robbie Barkley in 16th position with a time of 58:38, followed by Peter Brown in 1:01:09 for 34rd place overall.  First home for the ladies was Heather Christopher, in 233rd overall, recording a very respectable time of 1:14:28 in her first race, followed closely by Cath Young just 3 places further back in a time of 1:14:41.  Both the men’s (Robbie, Peter and Stevie G) and ladies (Heather, Cath and Julie) teams finished in 9th place.  A few pb’s were recorded on the day, including Helen Bruce, who knocked almost 2 minutes off her previous best, Davina, Julie and Colin.

The Blyth results and the Grand Prix tables can be found in the Grand Prix section of the web site.  The full results can be found at ukresults.net
