Redcar Half
Marathon
[Sun
13th Jun 2010] Hello all, every so
often I have some weird ideas, after vowing a few years ago never to do Redcar again
“always blowing a hoolly half marathon” I went and ran it this year.
Strangely
it wasn’t too windy; it was cool and damp with a slight breeze on this fairly
flat course. All on tarmac main roads so not scenic! It’s an out and back
course, so you see how far the Kenyans were in front at halfway, the answer was
miles!.
This
year after course changes since I did it last time, a park and ride scheme was
in place to get you from the car to the start area. Once there you stand
on one half of a road in a queue for the start. Fortunately this is where
chip timing comes in! I think it took Davina
and I about a minute to get to the start line, you could get into a pace
without falling over anyone after the first couple of miles.
Plenty
of water and marshals en route, with a good goody bag at the end.
Davina, with Mr and Mrs Baxter had very good runs, with Davina smashing her PB by 2 mins.
Mind you she didn’t have anyone to talk too on this occasion! A great run
indeed.
Times
as follows, well done to all.
