Athletics League - Monkton

A
number of Blyth's track merchants were out in force at the 2nd north eastern athletics league meeting on 26th may at Monkton stadium, Jarrow.
With
a record number of athletes entering, it was a long night for both
competitors and officials alike!!
Craig
Birch was in splendid form over numerous events - setting a p.b.
in the discus with 13.43, was first junior male in the 110m hurdles
with 22.1 (this time being a new Blyth track record for the 110m hurdles), and
5th in the junior male seeded 400m with a time of 57.6secs.
The
in-form Scott Povey ran in the under 17boys seeded 400m race
and was 3rd in his age category with a time of 57.3secs.
Charlotte
Ramsey ran well in the under 15 girls seeded 800m race and recorded a time of
2.42.8 to finish 11th in her age group.
Finally!!
- the 3000m race got underway-with 26 runners on the track. Iain singer
was first for Blyth recording 11:16; next was Helen Morris in 12:14 (2nd
senior woman), followed by Suzie Hunter in 12:32 (3rd senior woman), the
race was won by Graeme Taylor in a time of 8:53.3.
