Start Fitness NE Harrier League South Shields

[Mon 30th Mar 2009] The final races in this years NE Harrier League XC took place on Saturday 28th March at Temple Park, South Shields in cold, blustery conditions, but the ground underfoot was pretty firm over the whole course. This event was designated the Centenary event of the mens race and each finisher in the mens race received a long sleeve t-shirt courtesy of Start Fitness.
In the under 17 girls race, Emma again ran strongly to finish 7th, with Stephanie 12th. The ladies once again had a full team out. Leanne got the tactics right this time and ran well finish 5th, Helen M was 17th, Susanne 24th, Julie 55th and Sharon 103rd, together they took 4th team place on the day.

Eleven men took part and finished 6th team in division 2. Robbie was first back in 52nd place, followed by Steve Richardson in 141st, Craig 161st and Kevin 166th. Paul Whalley, returning from injury, was next back in 190th, then came Graeme 214th, Alex 235th, Dave Bradley 243rd, Ralph 316th, Steve Bush 318th and Keith 326th.

Overall in the series the ladies finished 4th team, which is probably best ever for the club, and considering they only started turning out a full team from the 3rd race shows good promise for next year. Overall the men finished 6th in division 2, which again is pretty good.
