Northern
Cross-country
Nine members of the club took part in
the northern cross country championships at Sherdley park, St. Helens, on
Saturday 24th January 2009. Despite the tough course and the early start to the
day. Steph Ramsay was the first runner off with the
U17 women and was 82nd. Next off was Charlotte Ramsay and she was 116th U13
girl. Kirstie Johnson was 105th in the Under 15
girls, while Kalvin Hurst failed to finish as he lost
both his spikes. There was only one Blyth runner in
the senior women and Helen Morris was 137th. For the senior
men Kevin Freeman was 413th, Keith Willshire was
563rd and Ralph Dickinson was 570th. Craig Birch was the last runner off
and was 70th junior man.
The course was very heavy and muddy
and the two old men at the back struggled.
I estimate that there was about six stretches of mud worse than the one
that has been taken off the East Cramlington
cross-country course for this year.
