Brampton to Carlisle
After the horrendous weather Cumbria had been subjected to over the
previous few days the race managed to go ahead albeit with a shortened course
of 9.1 miles instead of the usual 10 due to flooding on part of the normal
route. Fortunately, the weather on the
day was not as bad as had been forecasted, with the strong wind mostly
buffeting runners from the side rather than head on and apart from a couple of
heavy showers the rain was mainly a steady drizzle. Twenty eight Blyth members completed the race, which
was the last in this year’s Grand Prix series.
Pride of place goes to Paul Whalley, whose excellent sixth place on the
day gave him the division title by 1 point from Robbie Barkley and Terry McCabe
who finished 3rd V60.
