Alsager 5

[Sun 1st Feb 2009] The Alsager 5 near Crewe has a reputation for fast times so my family and I stayed the weekend and I was hoping to do a good time (sub 27:10 for me).  The course itself was pan flat and offered great pb potential but for those of you who prefer more scenic courses, this is not for you.  The start was shambolic, ramming 1056 people into a side street, but once I got going I had a decent run although it didn't quite work out on the day.  Disappointingly, mine and other runners GPS's had the course between 5.19 and 5.3 miles, so my official time was 28:02 finishing 67th of the 1056 competitors, although my GPS time for 5 mile was 27:40.
