A cool,
misty, damp calm night greeted the 61 runners who turned out for the fifth
race in the current Winter Series. First
away, and holding on to her lead all the way to win by 23 seconds was Ewa Johnson, improving her season's best by over a minute
in the process. In second place was Terry McCabe, just 3 seconds in front of
third placed Dave Roberts. The
overall race for the individual title is now led by Mark Cooper with 58pts,
second place is held by Julie Lemin (81pts), and
third by Joseph Dungworth (82pts). With a
low score of 35, the team competition was won by "Ay Up Me Duck",
with "McCabes Mafia" just 3 points back
in second. "French and Saunterers" rounded out the top 3 on 90pts. The overall team competition is now
becoming very close with only 6 points separating the top three; in first
place (82pts) is "Hot Tottie", followed by "Lydia's Lads"
(78) and "Ay Up Me Duck" (76). The
prize of fastest finisher went to Lee Cuthbertson
with a time of 13:44, closely followed by Joe Race (13:47) and Jake Jansen (
13:48), Peter Brown ran a vets record of 14:14, finally removing Rob Halls
mark from 5 years ago; fastest female was Charlie Hedley with 15:19, just 4
seconds off the female record. It was
a good night for season's bests, with 28 being recorded. Many
thanks to the two Daves, The Handicapper (Stig) and all the helpers on the
night. |
