WINTER SERIES 2011/12 RESULTS RACE 3

After a five week break over the holiday season, the Winter Series returned with race 3 on Wednesday 11th Jan, this time the 49 runners were greeted with a mild temperature but a strong head wind on the outward stretch of the long straight. First back was Heather Barrass with a time of 18:34, knocking 45 secs of her pb in the process, an immediate after race interview with Heather revealed that Christmas had been cancelled in the Barrass household so that serious training could be continued while everyone else was eating and drinking to excess! In second place (and how good to see after his injury nightmares of the last 2 years) was Steve Richardson, and Dave Bradley was third. Although only three races have been completed in the series so far, this win by Heather (together with her previous 9th and 6th place finishes) puts her in a strong position in the overall race for the title on 16pts, 14pts ahead of Joseph Dungworth in second, who himself is just 1pt in front of third placed Cath Young. The Broons were again the winners in the team competition, followed by Andrea And Her Boys and The Young Ones. The Broons now have 2 firsts and 1 second in the 3 races and lead in the team event with 70pts, a massive 27pts in front of RnR. No prizes for guessing the fastest finisher, Robbie Barkley again with 14:15, although this time only 5 sec quicker that Jake Jansen, Heather Christopher was fastest lady with 17:05. Ten runners achieved seson's best times. Again many thanks to the two Daves, The Handicapper (Stig) and all the helpers on the night.
