Farringdon XC Relays BRC XC Comp Race 1)

[Sat 13th Sep]

The 2014\2015 cross country season got off to a flying start on Saturday 13th September at Farringdon, Sunderland. This was also the first counting event of BRC’s new cross country competition. Unlike the conditions you’d normally expect for a cross country race, Saturday’s weather was hot and sunny and the ground conditions were firm. The course was in top condition with well mown paths, plus many twists and turns and undulations and a tricky water filled ditch to negotiate.

There was a good turn-out in the junior ranks, with the highlight from the junior races being Josh Fiddaman who won the U13 race. The senior numbers were boosted by the return of Jake Jansen from his exploits in America plus Sam Dodd who completed his first XC race.

The senior males run the 1.8 mile course as a 4 man relay and the ladies run the same course as a single race. For the XC competition, the fastest leg time will receive max points with the points award descending down to the final BRC finisher. All finishers will also receive the obligatory 3 points for making the effort to turn up.
