Mid-Week Round Up

Wednesday 23rd May saw Blyth members competing in two locations in the North East, a few younger members were taking part in the second North East Athletics League Track & Field meeting at Monkton Stadium, Jarrow, while the senior members were at Whitley Bay for the Clive Cookson 10k.

 

At Jarrow, the 5 athletics recorded 3 pb's and 1 club record between them.  Chris Lillico was timed at 54.4 in his 400m race and in the U17W 800m race Charlotte Ramsay recorded 2:39.2.  Both Charlie Hedley and Erin Scott took part in the U15G 800m race, with Charlie producing an incredible run to record a time of 2:29.2, a pb by some 16secs and a new female club record for the 800m, not to be outdone Erin also produced a 7 second pb with a time of 2:52.1.  In virtually the last race of the night with the light fading fast Jake also produced a pb in the 3000m with a time of 9:50.2.

Over at Whitley Bay 14 seniors finished the Clive Cookson 10k hosted by NSP.  First back for Blyth, in 75th place, was new member Jon French in a time of 41:04.  Jon was followed home by Gareth Hope (98th; 42:26), Heather Christopher (105th; 42:52), David Potts (115th; 43:19), Ian Baxter (122nd; 43:40), Martin Scott (148th; 45:14), Paul Turnbull (161st; 45:45), Phillippa Baxter (164th; 45:56), Cath Young (173rd; 46:38), Julie Lemin (191st; 48:05), Davina Lonsdale (224th; 50:28), Adele Lonsdale (226th; 50:30), Hayley Masterman (227th; 50:39) and Louise Coultate (283rd; 57:10).  Both Davina and Adele were using the race as a sharpener for the Edinburgh Marathon on the 27th May!
