Alnwick Harriers Social Run

[Wed 27th Jun]

More than twenty members of Blyth Running Club attended a very good evening hosted by Alnwick Harriers on Wednesday 27th June.

The event was an invitation only Blind Handicap for Alnwick, Wooler and Blyth Running Clubs.  The run itself was set in the grounds of Hulme Park at Alnwick and was over 5 miles of trail running over a tough hilly course.

Teams were made up in the main with 1 member of each club in a team of 3.

The theory was to try to run (without the aid of any watch or GPS) the 5 miles in the time that you had previously submitted with your team mates of equal ability.

The losers were the team that came the furthest away from their predicted time.  However they were rewarded with an excellent hand painted wooden spoon in your club colours.  (Davina can I swap my big shiny gold medal for your spoon please???).

Afterwards, there was showers and changing (and it was a really hot evening to run) at the leisure centre then off to the pub for chips and sandwiches.

A great night was had by all.

Many thanks to our new friends at Alnwick and Wooler for a good night.
