Loch ness Marathon 2009

[Mon 12th Oct 2009]  A fantastic time was spent in Inverness by all.  Great scenery, food, wine & weather.  Sunday's weather conditions were infact perfect, it was cool, sunny and with no breeze.  We were all very pleased as Saturday was typical English weather wet, windy and cold.  A very challenging but scenic course.  The views were spectacular from start to finish.  There were a few hick ups at the start of race day with the shuttle buses, which meant the race was delayed by a good 50 mins.  This was not good for our nerves and in my case (Susie) hunger, but being a strong confident team we recovered from this very quickly.

Very well ran by all runners especially those who chose this challenging course as their very first Marathon.

Susie Hunter completed the course in a respectable time of 3 hrs 45 mins could still talk but did struggle to walk once over the line.

Julie Lemin smashed her PB by 1hr coming over the finish in an impressive time of 4 hrs 6 mins

Davina & Adele yet another PB crossing the line in an amazing time of 4 hrs 14 mins

Louise Douglas completed the course in a fantastic time of 4 hrs 28 mins and I must say she was very fresh when I caught sight of her at the 24 mile mark.

Sharon Richardson again another brilliant run snapping the tape and enjoying all the cheers from the crowd in an amazing time of 4hrs 50 mins

Alison Lowes very impressive, this girl is one in a million she sprinted through the line in a fab time of 5 hrs 7 mins.

Better not forget to give the guys a mention.

Iain Singer completed the 10k in 43 mins 34 secs fantastic Iain as we all know you are coming back from injury, just watch out team Blyth.

Steve Richardson completed the 5k in a very impressive 2nd position (times unavailable)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came along to support. The guy's for taking some great photos and carrying our bags. The girls for their time spent training for this event and making it a very pleasurable experience.

Well done to everyone you will never know how much this event meant to me I can't thank you all enough.

Susie (vice captain)
