The Blyth Valley 10k was first run in 2005, following on from its predecessor, the very popular ten miler, which unfortunately had to be stopped after 23 successful years due to police and road closure issues.  The fourteenth running of the now renamed Port of Blyth 10k took place on the 8th April 2018.  The race continues to grow in popularity, with this year seeing a record number of 587  finishers.  The race is run from Blyth Quayside to Seaton Sluice and back, along public footpaths and cycle ways.  The course is officially ratified; it's very flat and provides an excellent chance of fast times.

Athletes compete in individual age categories. For example a Male over 50 will not qualify for over 40 and over 45 category awards.
